Hasini Sundarraman
I was introduced to the art of Carnatic Music when I was 5 years old. As I delved deeply into the many compositions, types and forms of music, I saw myself becoming captivated by it. In the past years, I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous musical events, developing my knowledge and experience in music.
An important stage in my musical career was when I began to master the fascinating compositions of Tyagaraja. I was driven to his compositions as each one had a seamless blend of devotional intensity and overall brilliance. In the future, I eagerly look forward to the Tyagaraja Aradhana as not only does it give me a chance to showcase my ability, but also provides me with an opportunity to expand my spiritual and musical knowledge.

Srishti Hariprasad Rajendran
Srishti’s Carnatic music journey started from the age of 4, when we started teaching her devotional bhajan songs after we noticed how clear her Sanskrit pronunciation was
From the age of 6, Srishti started her formal introduction to Carnatic music learning under the guidance of Guru Shri Uma Sivakumar.
Her interest and opportunity to sing Thyagaraja compositions happened during the last three years of various Thyagaraja Aradhana festival participations – Cleveland Aradhana, Delaware Mahalakshmi temple Aradhana etc.,
The best memory is from the 2025 Cleveland Aradhana, singing along with 200 other kids to the great compositions of Guru Shri Neyveli Santhanagopalan.
Srishti would look forward to enriching her Carnatic music singing talent in the future Aradhana festivals.

Varsha Lakshmanan
I have always loved Carnatic music. I remember listening to my mother’s voice singing Madhava Mamava as I fell asleep. I started learning when I was 6 from Sri Jay Shankar Balan in Michigan, and
have been learning from Smt Kiranavali Vidyashankar after moving to Delaware.
Our family has
attended the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana regularly. When my mother explained the meaning to me,
I was amazed at St. Thayaraja’s bhakti towards Lord Rama. The myriad of compositions, ranging from
simpler krithis like Dayarani to heavier krithis like O Ranga Sayi, was wonderful to a small child.
Listening to the pancharathnams sung every year made me feel like I belonged and continues to
inspire me in my musical journey.
