Amrutha Gopinath

Vidushi Amrutha Gopinath
Is a senior disciple of Vidushi Rupa Sridhar, starting singing from the age of 3 years. Initially started singing bhajans and shlokas taught by my grandmother, and then continued with Carnatic music at age 4.
Initial introduction to Tyagaraja`s composition was with utsava sampradaya krithis and then came popular krithis like Marugelara, Bantureethi, Nagumomu ganaleni, Ramabhakthi, etc. Listening to these popular krithis in many Kutcheris was the main reason to enjoy these compositions, and I asked my teacher to teach them quickly. Then the most important and challenging Pancharatna Krithis were taught as a challenge to a group of 6 young girls to see if we could learn and memorise them quickly, so we can start organising our music school`s Tyagaraja Aradhana and present in that event every year. I remember very well that as a growing young girl, it was fun to sing and be a lead young artist at various Tyagaraja Aradhanas conducted by organisations all over Bangalore and many other states in India.
This is one of the reasons to teach and inspire this generation of kids here in the US, and teach them Utsava Sampradaya and Pancharatna Krithis at Ganaamrutha School of Music.
Amrutha is Founder and Director of Ganaamrutha School of Music and has been teaching Carnatic music in Exton/ Downingtown, Pennsylvania, for students of various ages, both Carnatic classical and Annmacharya Sankeertanas, for the past 19 years. She has been a leading pancharatna ghosti gayana organised by Ranjani Institute of Music, Bangalore and other organisations in India and the USA. Active member of Nadopasana Sankeertana Sangam, which is actively involved in propagating Annamacharya Sankeetanas. An active member of “Sruti “, the Indian Music and Dance society of Philadelphia.
